Estate Value
Homer, Anne Heche’s 20-year-old son, filed filings with a Los Angeles court two months after his mother passed away, estimating the estate’s overall value at the time of her death to be $400,000. According to the newspaper, she didn’t own any real estate at the time of her death, and her estate anticipates making around $400,000 annually in film royalties and residuals.
The documents also revealed that Anne had $33,000 in uncashed royalty checks and $77,000 in cash in her bank account at the time of her passing. In addition, she owed $62,000 in credit card debt.
Homer updated the probate case of his mother in April 2024, stating that the estate consists of a “modest bank account, payments for royalty, and other remaining earnings from pre-death projects.” The estate has several creditor claims totaling $6 million, according to the document. One claim, for $2 million, was made against the owners of the house she died in the collision. The lady who was leasing the property at the time has another claim, this one for $2 million. Thomas Jane, Anne’s former partner, submitted a $150,000 claim.
Early Life
In Aurora, Ohio, on May 25, 1969, Anne Celeste Heche was born. Her mother Nancy, her father Donald, and younger brothers Nathan, Abigail, and Susan raised her; her sister Cynthia passed away at the age of two months, just before Heche was born, due to a cardiac condition. Anne grew up in a family that relocated nearly twelve times. Heche said, “I don’t think he produced much on that a week,” in a 2001 interview with Larry King about her father, a choir director. He claimed to be involved in the oil and gas industry. And up to the day of his passing, he said that. However, he never worked in the oil and gas industry.” The family moved to New Jersey when Anne was twelve years old, and they took up residence in a bedroom of a neighboring family. Heche assisted her family in saving enough cash to move away by working at a Swainton dinner theater.
Anne’s 45-year-old father passed away from AIDS in March 1983. According to Heche, her father gave her genital herpes virus and sexually assaulted her from the time she was a baby until she was twelve years old. Anne lost her 18-year-old brother, Nathan, three months after Donald passed away. It was said that Nathan fell asleep at the wheel and struck a tree. After thereafter, the family moved to Chicago, where Heche enrolled at Francis W. Parker School. Once an agent spotted Anne in a school play, Anne went to audition for the soap opera “As the World Turns” when she was sixteen years old. Heche’s mother preferred that her daughter complete her high school education before accepting the employment opportunity. Before her 1987 graduation, she had offers to play Marley Love and Vicky Hudson on “Another World.”

Career Decline
Heche asserted in a 2020 interview that her career came to a standstill because of her connection with Ellen DeGeneres. According to her own words:
“That relationship had such a terrible stigma attached to it… I waited eleven years to make another studio picture. I lost my $10 million movie contract.”
Personal Life
While Anne has primarily dated men, such as the late comic Steve Martin, she was famously in a relationship with comedian Ellen DeGeneres from 1997 to August 2000. Years later, when discussing the reasons why her connection with Ellen failed to work out, Heche asserted:
“She wanted to be extremely wealthy, therefore I ended our relationship because of that. Her response to mine was, “I want $60 billion,” so good luck finding love. There’s no way our forks will ever meet. That’s why I ended our relationship, so I hope you like your money! Do you enjoy lounging around with your cash stacks? Because, surprise! It brings you right to your destination.”
While working on a documentary on Ellen DeGeneres, Anne encountered cameraman Coleman “Coley” Laffoon. On September 1, 2001, they were married. On March 2, 2002, Heche and Laffoon delivered their baby, Homer. March 2009 saw their divorce.
Heche’s spokesperson for Anne revealed in December 2008 that she and her “Men in Trees” co-star James Tupper were planning a boy, Atlas, who was born on March 7, 2009. In 2018, Anne and James parted ways.
Bizarre Incidents
Heche traveled 1.5 miles across the desert with only shorts and a bra in August 2000 after driving from Los Angeles to Cantua Creek, a town north of Fresno, California, and knocking on a stranger’s home. Heche drank a lot of water, took a bath, asked for a pair of slippers, and stated she wanted to watch a movie when occupant Araceli Campiz, who knew Anne from “Six Days, Seven Nights,” allowed her inside the house. Campiz called the sheriff’s office as soon as she saw that Anne didn’t appear to be intending to leave anytime soon.
Heche claimed to be God and said she was “going to send everybody back to heaven in a spaceship” when police arrived at the house. After the deputies called for help, Anne was driven 50 miles to the University Medical Center in Fresno by ambulance, where she was checked into the psychiatric unit. It was several hours before Heche was freed. Anne claims that she was “insane” for the first 31 years of her life and that this was caused by her father abusing her sexually when she was younger. She disclosed that she developed the “Fourth Dimension,” a fantastical realm, as a coping mechanism and took on the persona of “Celestia,” an alter ego who conversed with God. Heche said in a 2001 Larry King Live interview:
“To get to where I am now, I had to go through a lot in life. I’m thankful for every step I took since I had to face reality and overcome shame.”
Anne was allegedly involved in a high-speed car accident in August 2022 in Mar Vista, California, when she crashed her Mini Cooper into an apartment building’s carport. She was severely burned in the ensuing crash. Heche needed assistance from dozens of firefighters to be pulled from the wreck.
